January 3, 2013 at 3:51 pmInheriting a mutation in the BRCA1 or the BRCA2 gene does not guarantee you will get breast or ovarian cancer. Please read the publication at http://molmed.org/pdfstore/12_280_Levin.pdf
Please watch the video at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ht2zg3NbNNg
Evidence based on spontaneous chromosome abnormalities and epidemiologic data indicates strong effects from exogenous mutagens and does
not support the inevitability of cancer in all BRCA1 and BRCA2 mutation carriers. This removes a theoretical argument that has limited efforts to develop prevention strategies to delay or prevent cancers in BRCA1 and BRCA2 mutation carriers.

June 13, 2013 at 1:17 pmClaudia,
I am inspired by your story & your courage to make such challenging decisions at your age. For personal reasons and for my desire to help our future generations going through this, and facing such burdensome questions and options, I have joined on to a research study at University of Pennsylvania. Our goal is recruit BRCA+ and true negatives to participate in an simple survey that gathers information about family planning. Additionally we collect blood samples and perform an ultrasound to determine the impact this mutation has on its carriers’ attitudes and fertility. Our goal is to help future generations with issues surrounding family planning and alleviate one stressor along the way. If you, or anyone reading this is interested in participating please feel free to email me with any questions at ManganiA@uphs.upenn.edu
My best,
Ashley

March 28, 2017 at 11:48 amHello
A month ago I discovered I had a brca1 mutation and I have been endlessly considering what needs to be done. I am in mixed feelings and decisions right now and I need some advice. I know I have to do it and I WANT TO but I want to make the right decision in terms of reconstruction.
If anyone out there can help me out, here is my email:
